Karen Lavone Avery Miller, a native of Missouri, is the daughter of Frances Lavone Silver and the late Harry Hollis Avery, Jr. She is married to Henry Clay Miller; and has one daughter, Carie Michelle (Mrs. Timothy James Wright) and grandchildren.

Mrs. Miller attended Central Missouri University in Warrensburg, MO. Her career is diverse and included employment at George K. Baum & Co. in the investment banking sector; as a retail sales representative in Dallas, Texas; and as a Realtor at Henry S. Miller Real Estate. Mrs. Miller is also a professional genealogist.

Mrs. Miller's proudest accomplishment is that of being a Wife, Mother and now Grandmother (i.e. Mimi) to two grandsons, two step-granddaughters and four step-grandsons ranging in age from four (4) to twenty-five (25) years.

She has been a member of the Washington Club since 2000. Mrs. Miller currently attends Grace and Holy Trinity Episcopal Cathedral, a Member of the Diocese of West Missouri, Kansas City, MO.

Her current memberships include The Association of Professional Genealogists (APG); the National Genealogical Society (NGS); The Federation of Genealogical Societies (FGS 1997 Conference Regional Publicity Chairman); The New England Historic and Genealogical Society (NEHGS); The Association for Gravestone Studies (AGS); The New Hampshire Genealogical Society; Charter Member of the Carroll County [MO] Genealogical Association; The Dallas [TX] Genealogical Society (Past President, 2000 DGS Award of Merit recipient, Capital Expansion Project Chairman); The Dedham [MA] Historical Society; and the Cape Cod Genealogical Society.

Worked as a Volunteer Genealogist at the DAR National Headquarters, Washington DC, 2000-2002, verifying over 100 supplemental papers. She has prepared and submitted over 200 of her own ancestor supplements for various societies. She is the owner of The Little Studio and Galler - Karen Avery Miller Fine Art, in Arrow Rock, MO.
