Lowry Rush Watkins, Jr., a native of Louisville, Kentucky, is the son of the former Barbara Bullitt and Lowry Rush Watkins.  He is a life-long member of St. Francis in the Fields Episcopal Church and was a member of Boy Scout Troop 109, which is sponsored by this parish. Mr. Watkins attended Aquinas Preparatory School and graduated from the University of Louisville with a B.S.C. in Finance. Mr. Watkins is a licensed pilot, rated as a flight and ground instructor, instrument, glider, seaplane, DC-3, B-25, B-17, and air taxi pilot. He is a semi-retired real estate developer and has his Kentucky Real Estate License. Mr. Watkins, inspired by his maternal grandfather’s genealogy interest that spanned over five decades, he has been active since 1977. He is a member of over 140 hereditary societies, which is an all-time record. He is a contributing author for the best-selling Solicitor General Bullitt: The Life of William Marshall Bullitt, a biography of his maternal grandfather. He has also published two other books on his parents and grandparents.

Mr. Watkins is a sponsor of the University of Louisville, School of Business having established an award, book fund, lecture, scholarship, and an endowed chair in Finance.  He has similarly provided various endowments in memory of his mother and grandparents at other schools at the University of Louisville and for his great-grandfather at Centre College.  He has also been generous in supporting various historical and lineage societies' philanthropic funds and projects. 

Mr. Watkins is a member of the Pendennis Club, Oxmoor Country Club, and a founding member of the University Club, University of Louisville all in Louisville, and the Delray Beach Club in Florida. He is a long-time member of the Social Register Association. He enjoys boating, flying, polo, dancing, sailing as well as American and European history.
