The Rev. Canon
Robert Girard Carroon, Ph.D.

Robert Girard Carroon, the son of Matthew Arnold Carroon and
Agnes Girardeau Squire, is a native of Kansas City,
Missouri. The Rev. Dr. Carroon completed his
Bachelor of Arts degree at
Indiana State University.
He completed his Master of Divinity at the
Nashotah House Theological
Seminary and, in addition to his
theological studies, obtained a Master of Arts from
the
University of Wisconsin.
Dr. Carroon's Ph.D. (D.Litt.) was completed at
England's
Sussex University.
The Rev. Dr. Carroon has had an illustrious career in
the American Episcopal Church, having served for many
years as the Honorary Canon of
Christ Church Cathedral
in Hartford, Connecticut
and Archivist and Historiographer of the Diocese of Connecticut. He is
the current Secretary of the Board of Archives of the Episcopal
Church and the
Senior
Priest Associate at Grace Episcopal Church in Hartford.
Father
Carroon now serves the Episcopal Church in America as
the Director of Scholarship Programs, with the
Society for the Increase of the
Ministry.

The Rev.
Dr. Carroon is a member of the
Union League of Philadelphia.
He was a former hockey player (goaltender) with
the Indianapolis Chiefs, with whom he won the
International Hockey League Turner Cup Championship
in 1958. He also played with the Milwaukee
Falcons and on the Hartford Whaler Alumni Team of
the National Hockey League. He has served as
President of the Hartford Whalers and Hartford Wolf
Pack (New York Rangers) Booster Club and serves on
the Advisory Board of the Hartford Wolf Pack.
He is a Past President of the Connecticut Society of
Genealogists, a member of the Association for the Preservation of
Civil War Sites, and the Honorable
Order of Kentucky Colonels. He is a life member
of the Saint Andrew's Society of Milwaukee, and a
member of the
French-Canadian Genealogical Society; the Alliance Francaise;
the Bunker Hill Monument Association; the Grant Tomb
Monument Association. Father Carroon also
serves as Chief Archivist for the Clan Donald USA.
In addition to Father Carroon's other roles in the
Episcopal Church, he is a member of the Guild of All
Souls, the Confraternity of the Blessed Sacrament,
and the Society of King Charles the Martyr. In
addition, he serves as
Chaplain of the 82nd Airborne Association of
Connecticut. Father Carroon is a member of Alpha Delta
Chapter, Pi Lambda Phi Fraternity; and is a member of Phi Alpha Theta History
Fraternity.
