2005
Annual Dinner and
Awards Ceremony
The Annual Dinner and
Awards Ceremony of the
Hereditary Society Community of the United States of America
was held on Sunday, April 17, 2005 at the Washington Club. Guests were welcomed by HSC Consultants
and received in the Drawing Room by ladies and gentlemen of
the Advisory Council. Guests enjoyed a
Reception
in the Grand Ballroom
between 5:30pm and 7:00pm, where cocktails and hors
d'oeuvres were served. Baroque and Classical selections were
played from the balcony by the Signature String Quartet of
Vienna.
Guests were seated
at 7:00pm and welcomed by Mrs. Brantley
Carter Bolling Knowles. Mrs. Knowles thanked Mrs.
Eleanor Warrene Smallwood Beasley Niebell, a life member of
the Washington Club, for her kindness in sponsoring the event.
The Rev. Dr. Albert Clinton Walling, II gave the blessing and
dinner was served.
For dinner, guests enjoyed an excellent menu, which included Roasted Garlic Soup;
Mixed Green Salad with Artichokes, Feta Cheese and Pinenuts;
Beef Tenderloin with Haricots Verts and Petit Carrots Risotto
with Cabarnet Sauce. Red and white wine was
served with dinner, which was followed by a dessert of
Tiramisu with Kahlua Liqueur.
The Rev. Barry
Christopher Howard honored HSC Vice President, Mr. John
Griffin Richardson Rountree, for his significant assistance in
the development of HSC and all its facets.
Members of the Advisory Council, the HSC
Consultants and past Honorary Members were then introduced. The Rev. Dr.
Albert Walling introduced the speaker for the evening, Mr.
Gary Boyd Roberts, Senior Research Scholar for the New England
Historic Genealogical Society, and well-known author.
Mr. Roberts shared personally with guests regarding his famous Mowbray Connection, among other things.
Following Mr. Robert's lecture, Mr. John Hallberg Jones
explained the nature of the Annual Honorary Awards, and then introduced each Honorary Member for
the Class of 2005. Plaques were presented respectively.
Mrs. Knowles thanked everyone
for attending. The evening was
an enjoyable time of fellowship, honor and celebration, and
the Advisory Council wishes to thank each guest who
supported HSC by attending.
It is to be noted that many individuals gave special gifts
this year. A specific page is dedicated to the
Patrons
of the event, (giving in excess of $500), but we felt it
appropriate to list all giving levels below, as well.
